Description of the "J-Line" pen
I named this pen after Jay Pickens. To the best of my knowledge, he was the first person to make this style pen from a "Slim-Line" kit. Other's had made a similar style, but they were larger pens, made from from larger fittings.
I try to make all of the pens the same, but each pen is individually made and there are some variations in their diameter and length.
These are a ballpoint pen that uses a standard "Cross" refill, or any generic refill that will fit a Cross pen. The refill is removed by separating the two pen barrels at the breakline, and unscrewing it from the lower barrel.
The tip and cap sections are black acrylic plastic, and the mid-section is a variety of wood species. The available wood species are those show in the photograph because I think they make the best looking pens, and show sales have proven this a correct assumption.
The only plating on the metal fittings that are available on-line is Chrome. While the gold may look better on some pens, the Chrome is a more durable plating.
This pen is available only in Pacific Yew (1, 2, and 3 in photo), figured Western Big Leaf Maple (4 and 5 in photo), and African Zebrawood (6 and 7 in photo). Note that only Chrome plating is available for on-line purchase.
Note on Purchasing
All pens in this grouping are the same style and the same price. The only difference between them are the different wood species that are available.
